Jen Welter made history in the NFL, after the Arizona Cardinals hired her to be the first ever female assistant coach in the “Training Camps” and the franchise’s preseason, a few months ago, the Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said the incursion of women in the NFL would be a reality, and it became a reality as Welter is now the first woman who would become a coach of any kind inside the league.
The 37-year-old past February broke the male-driven American Football League, when she was signed by the Texas Revolution of the Indoor Football League, at the time the general manager of the Revolution and Hall of Fame receiver Tim Brown, In February last year Welter became the first woman to play in another position besides kicker in a male professional Football League when she ranked as a runner and return specialist for the Revolution.
Welter played the sport professionally for over 14 years with the Dallas Diamonds, a supporter of the Women’s Football Alliance, helping the organization achieve four championships, She will work with linebackers coach Bob Sanders, Larry Foote and recently hired Levon Kirkland, Welter hiring coincides with Sarah Thomas’ deal to become the first full-time official in NFL history.
