To date the best race of Usain Bolt in the track is undoubtedly the current record (9,58s) at the games in Berlin in 2009. However, last year, in the final of the Beijing Games before completing his splendid race already a winner with only 80m traveled when he let go, looked around, raised his arms and waved before crossing the finish line and apparently slowed so much that his stride was more a dance than anything else. Despite the time lost in those last 20 meters he won with a 9,69s.
That race did nothing but increase the legend about the real capacity for improvement and the limits of the Jamaican. Glen Mills said he could have run in 9,52s. By analyzing videos Norwegian physicists, taking some granted unreal scenario in which he improved speed in the final stretch, they concluded that he could have run in 9,55s.
Usain usually shows good reaction times at the start. Then tap the first acceleration phase, in which the huge Jamaican frame is incorporated more slowly into the correct upright position to race. In the first 20-meter race at the Beijing Games excelled in 0,02s time he achieved in Berlin the following year. In a second phase of acceleration he is continuously gaining speed until the maximum stride or frequency of steps. Usain is able to complete this phase around the half of the track. Towards the mid-race he manages around 4.6 steps / s. And yet he continues to gain speed based on further increase the amplitude of the steps and not lose his frequency. This last adjustment of the engine, which allows him to slightly keep accelerating is very progressive and ends some 80 meters in for Bolt.
He achieves his maximum speed much later than other athletes. In the span of 70 to 80m, in the instants of drive he can exceed 45 km / h. Finally, in the last 20 meters of the race, although he keeps pushing to the maximum, he loses some speed because of the loss frequency of steps since the amplitude of these continues to grow almost to the finish and may exceed slightly 3m in one step.
Very steadily, after 41 Bolt running steps, exceeding the target of the track. we can select his best records in different stages of his races and like a puzzle mix them, we get a Stratospheric time (9,55s). But every race is different, each competition is different and the Jamaican does not seem to be in the same conditions than before. Usain reaches Rio fulfilling his dream of being able to compete in his third games for 3 gold medals (100, 200 and 4×100).
