Denny Hamlin, No. 11 Toyota, Joe Gibbs Racing. Six weeks after making a mistake in the last corner in Sonoma, costing him his first victory in a mixed circuit in the Sprint Cup, Hamlin finally got him after taking advantage of the mistakes of others. He led the last 10 laps and it was his second win of the season. Grade: A +
- Joey Logano, No. 22 Ford, Team Penske. Despite a penalty for speeding in the pits on lap 34, Logano rebounded for his 4th. Top 10 in a row at Watkins Glen. Grade: A
- Brad Keselowski, Ford No. 2, Team Penske. Keselowski and Kyle Busch resumed from the 10 laps but were unable hit Turn 1 efficiently, enough for Denny Hamlin to take the lead. That was not the last error from Keselowski, who then hit the car of Martin Truex Jr .. Grade: B
- AJ Allmendinger, No. 47 Chevrolet, JTG Daugherty Racing. In a day of extremes, Allmendinger had a penalty for speeding in the pits on lap 26, he was involved in an accident on lap 54 and even won his second Top 5 of the season, was left miserable after causing an accident the last lap that sent Kyle Larson against the wall. Grade: B
- Tony Stewart, No. 14 Chevrolet, Stewart-Haas Racing. He achieved his 8th. Top 5 in his 16th. and last race at Watkins Glen. It was also his 5th. Top 5 in the last seven races. Grade: A
- Kyle Busch, No. 18 Toyota, Joe Gibbs Racing. He was in a position to achieve his 3rd. Watkins Glen victory when he restarted from the front row with only 10 laps to go, but could not take the first corner without veering, which opened the way, for Hamlin to take the checkered flag. Rating: A-
- Martin Truex Jr., Toyota No. 78 Furniture Row Racing. Truex Jr. was the 2nd. in the last corner when Brad Keselowski hit him from behind and made him lose control. Although it was his 6th. Top 10 finish in 11 races at Watkins Glen. Grade: A
- Jamie McMurray, Chevrolet No. 1, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. Good day for McMurray, who with his first Top 10 in The Glen since 2010 – overcame the elimination from the Chase. Grade: A
- Trevor Bayne, No. 6 Ford, Roush Fenway Racing. Another winner in the race for the Chase. He climbed to 17 and had 20 points, which brought him closer to Kyle Larson, who now is only eight ahead. Grade: A
- Matt Kenseth, No. 20 Toyota, Joe Gibbs Racing. Started his 600th race in the Sprint Cup and achieved its 300th Top 10, a very good average. Grade: A
