It’s getting more and more expensive to go out to the ballpark these days. Back in the old days there used to be a lot of kids at the games, now the kids can’t afford to get in. Unless, of course, they go with Dad… if Dad can afford the tickets.
For example, should an Eagles fan want to take his son out to see the game against the Dallas Cowboys in Philadelphia this weekend with the lead in the NFC East on the line, he will have to shell out a minimum of $400 just to get in the gate. Not counting parking, hot dogs or beer.
If you are in Indianapolis and would like to have your son witness Peyton Manning’s return to Indiana, the cheapest tickets available are going for $164 each. Many would love to see Peyton again, but $328 for a pair of tickets is a bit steep.
Ticket prices vary widely across the country and seem to be based on how the teams involved are doing at the time. In other words, whatever the market will bear. How much of those inflated ticket prices go to the folks that actually have something to do with the game of football and how much goes to the middle man is unknown, but the recent news of quarterbacks signing megabuck deals should have told us what was coming.
Of course, if your team is not doing so well this year, you and your son can enjoy an afternoon at the ball park for much less money. Tickets to the Miami Dolphins-Buffalo Bills game this weekend are going for around $37 apiece and up in Jacksonville you can get into the Jaguars-Chargers game for a mere $10.22 and there is a rumor that they are giving away free beers on top of that!
