The Chicago Bulls have made the (some say) smart decision to add a veteran player to their team roster. That player is Nazr Mohammed, a fitting choice, since he actually hails from Chicago himself. Mohammed is a fourteen year veteran, and is proud to be replacing the team’s former center, Omer Asik. Asik left for the Houston Rockets, because the Bulls refused to match his three year, $25.1 million offer! Fans are taking both sides of the fence here. Some say that Asik was too greedy for his own good, and that the decision to replace him with Mohammed was a smart one. Others feel that Asik’s demands should have been met, for the good of the team. Who is right? Only time will tell.
To be fair, the Bulls have been acting a little on the cheap side as of late. They took in rookie guard Marquis Teague at 100% instead of 120%, a “deal” that he was basically strong armed into. Then, for super low prices, they brought in swingman Marco Belinelli, forward Vladimir Radmonovic, and Kirk Hinrich. Whether these additions work out or not, there is some bad news that could keep the team from reaching its goals. Derrick Rose is going to be out for an undetermined amount of time due to a knee injury, an absence that the team is dreading.
Some players were sent packing this season too. The Bulls said goodbye to Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer, and C.J. Watson. Many feel that’s unfortunate; the team had the choice of keeping them but, for whatever reason, passed.
Regardless of the questionable decisions being made by the team as of late, Mohammed is a strong player in his own right. Sure, he might not be the newest and freshest center around, but he did do well in his stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The player averaged 2.7 points and rebounds in only eleven minutes! There’s something to be said for that, and Bulls fans everywhere are hoping he will keep it up in the coming season.
