The Atlanta Falcons look like they have an offense that looks poised to rule the NFL as personnel wise they are very hard to match up with.
Although the Green Bay Packers in week 2 were a depleted team that was dealing with a lot of injuries (including their top two tackles), you can confidently say that the Falcons offense that we saw in their 34-23 win over Green Bay is not a fluke.
The Falcons are for real, their offense has been clicking on all cylinders since last season and it’s not going anywhere, so if the rest of the NFC wants to have a shot at competing with Atlanta they’d better figure out a way to stop them sooner rather than later as they will only grow more confident and efficient with every win they achieve.
They make you remember the Saints offense of 2010, which quarterback Drew Brees led to the Super Bowl. It features outstanding receivers as part of a passing attack that is brutal and combines perfectly with a running attack that is very efficient.
Their backs can not only run the ball with authority with Devonta Freeman and Trevor Coleman (over four yards per carry) but also catch it out of the backfield.
Coleman is a problem coming out of the backfield despite his role as number two back so if opposing defenses want to stop the Falcons, they should probably start by jamming the outside receivers and containing their run, which so effectively opens up their passing attack led by 2016 MVP quarterback Matt Ryan.
If opposing teams allow this offense to just run up and down the field expect them to score 40+ points per game.
On the outside they have arguably the best WR in the NFL in Julio Jones; Mohamed Sanu, and Taylor Gabriel, which are effective down the field, but the Falcons can also thrive down in the intermediate part of the field with Gabriel and tight end Austin Hooper.
Although the defense may not be up to par with the offense yet they are getting better as it features a lot of speed and athleticism with guys that surround and attack the ball carrier with a lot of hitting power.
Right now, the Falcons are the class of the NFC and when (not if) their defense starts to click, watch out as there could be no one left to stop them from reaching their second straight Super Bowl.
