Real Madrid and Legia Warzaw will clash today at the Bernabeu Stadium for the third round of the Champions League Group F. The “Merengues” will try to win to claim sole possession of the group despite having several injured key players.
Injuries have been a frequent headache for the Spanish club as they have had an unwavering rush of them in the first few weeks since the start of the European soccer season.
Key players such as Luka Modric and Casemiro will miss the match while James Rodriguez has fully recovered and is expected to play in this match.
For the Madrid club to become leaders of the group they will need Borussia Dortmund to leave some points on the road as they face a much tougher task against Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.
Both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are tied at four points atop Group F, due to the late equalizer of German Andre Schurrle that made sure the highly contested match ended 2-2.
As expected, Legia Warzaw has had a much rockier road in the competition with two straight Champions League defeats while struggling in their domestic league. Legia are in 13th place, 12 points behind leader Lechia Gdansk, in Poland’s top division.
On the contrary, their opponent is rounding into top form as they managed to leave behind a streak of four straight draws and beat Real Betis 6-1 in their last La Liga match.
This will be the first match ever between Legia Warzaw and Real Madrid. The other matches of the day are:
Dinamo Zagreb – Sevilla, Lyon – Juventus, CSKA Mosco – Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen – Tottenham, Club Brugge – Porto, Leicester City – Copenhagen and Sporting Lisbon – Borussia Dortmund.
