The Saints and the Falcons kicked off Week 12 action on Thursday Night Football with a well played, if not overly exciting football game played in Atlanta. Only three points were scored in the entire second half of play. Naturally the game went way under by 23 points. The Saints won the game but failed to cover the 8 points given them by the handicappers.
The early games on Sunday saw some of the tightest football action that we have seen all year with close, low scoring, ball games being the rule of the day. In fact only 3 games went over the predicted totals.
The Rams beat the Bears 42-21 for 63 total points when the O&E was only 44.5. Then Phillip Rivers led his San Diego Chargers to a last minute upset victory on the road against the 9-1 Kansas City Chiefs and almost hit the O& E figure of 43 by themselves putting up 41 points on Andy Reid’s Chiefs and taking a stunning underdog victory from out of their hands.
But the wildest Over of the day came in the big game at Lambeau Field when the Packers hosted the Minnesota Vikings on a frigid day in Green Bay. Backup quarterback Matt Flynn, back a home in Green Bay once again, led the Pack in the second half and managed to come from behind to score in the closing moments and tie the game at 23-23.
Although the Packers got the ball first, they failed to score the winning touchdown and had to settle for a field goal. Then Minnesota marched down the field and tied the game once again at 26-26 which is how the game ended in a tie, when time ran out in the overtime period.
In all other Sunday action, it was the Under bettors who cashed in the winning tickets. The Jets and the Ravens only managed to score 22 points of the projected 39.5 in the Ravens 19-3 victory over the New York Jets.
The resurgent Jacksonville Jaguars got another upset road win over the hapless Houston Texans as the Jags held Houston to only two field goals and beat the Texans 13-6 for only a total of 19 points when the projected total was 44!
The underdogs triumphed once again as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued their winning ways by defeating the Detroit Lions, who were 7.5 point favorites, by a final score of 24-21 and the Under took the bet once more.
