The rules committee has proposed a series of changes for the 2015-2016 NCAA men’s basketball season, they addressed some issues involving the increased physicality, the pace of play, they also voted to shorten the shot clock from 35 seconds to only 30 to help the scoring for this upcoming season.
This last proposed change was the most commented after the committee met last week, they have spent the past year collecting data and opinions on several proposals, and came up with some key areas they want to address and improve upon.
This includes as first priority to reduce the physicality, and encourage a more balanced defense and offense to allow a more open style of play and improve the game, they made a similar directive for the 2013-2014 season dealing mostly with that balance
although it tilted back again in favor of defense, most notably the dip in scoring for Division I men’s basketball to the almost historical 67.6 points per game for last season.
