Real Madrid will play Legia Warsaw in an empty Pepsi Arena for the fourth round of the Champions League’s Group F after the home of the Polish club was banned for the flares thrown to the pitch in the match against Borussia Dortmund.
In the previous match between these two teams Real Madrid had no mercy of Legia as they beat them 5-1 at the Bernabeu Stadium in Spain. The men of Zinedine Zidane are so far unbeaten in the continental competition with two wins and one draw for seven points in three matches.
In Group F’s other game Portugal’s Sporting Clube travels to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund and aiming to earn at least a point at the tough BVB Stadion.
Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund share the first place of the group as both of them won their matches against Sporting and Legia Warsaw, but tied 2-2 when they faced each other in Dortmund.
The difference maker to decide this group will most likely be the game at the Bernabeu Stadium on December 7 when they will play round two of what is expected to be a very tight contest.
The Spanish Club is the leader of not only their Champions League group, but of Spain’s La Liga as well. They have 24 points in 10 games and are two points ahead of their bitter rival Barcelona.
Legia, still without a point in the Champions League, have managed to score only one goal in three games. They are sixth in domestic competition as they trail Lechia, the leaders of the Polish league, by 10 points.
The aim for Legia is now to finish third in the group and qualify for the UEFA Europa League. To do that they have to make sure they don’t concede a lot of goals the rest of the tournament and that they beat Sporting Clube when they visit Warsaw on December 7. The Portuguese side has three points thanks to their 2-0 win against Legia in Lisbon.
In the other matches of the day Juventus will host Lyon, F.C Copenhagen will travel to England to face Leicester City, Porto receives Club Brugge, Tottenham hosts Bayer Leverkusen, Dinamo Zagreb visits Sevilla, and Monaco hosts CSKA Moscow
