At Pocono last year, there was nothing keeping Kyle Busch separated from that finish line with only a half a lap to go. A visit to Victory Lane have given Busch his 4th. straight win to further aggrandize his return after suffering a heavy crash at Daytona that left him with fractures in his right leg and left foot. However, the car ran short of fuel and Busch was forced to finish with a disappointing 22nd. place.
The driver of the Toyota No. 18 from Joe Gibbs Racing will try to turn around his luck this Sunday (Moved to Monday due to heavy rain) during the Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono Raceway.
The “Tricky Triangle” is one of the two tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit, The Charlotte Motor Speedway is the other – in which Busch has never won.
“I think when you race well there and have a chance to win, if you run out of fuel, you come back with the same mentality that you have a chance to win as well, as we had last summer,” Busch said. “Certainly I would love to win there and last year, having such a good car, I could figure out how to drive better on that track, so eventually I think we will win if we keep bringing good cars as Adam (Stevens, Team Leader ) and the M&M’S boys “.
After his victory last weekend at Indianapolis, Busch reaches Pocono tied with Brad Keselowski with the most wins (4) in the series. In addition, he leads the rest of the drivers with 11 top 5s, demonstrating its good to get your 2nd. consecutive championship NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
In 23 races at Pocono, Busch has four top 5s and eight top 10s; and a 19th average finishing position.
“If we can take two (wins) in a row and our first at Pocono, that would be something else, especially in a place where I have not taken a win, I’d finally scratch it off the list,” Busch said.
