-Keith Rivers has played his last game in the NFL, the veteran linebacker, who signed with Dallas in the offseason, has decided to retire after seven seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants and Buffalo Bills, the Cowboys announced.
Selected in the first round by Cincinnati back in 2008, Rivers never meet the expectations as a prospect, starting in only 33 games for the Bengals in four seasons before being traded to the Giants for a fifth round in 2012, after 14 games as a starter with New York, Rivers ended his career last season with the Bills, participating in only 192 games played for Buffalo before the team cut him in February.
-The Surgery in the offseason for Jordy Nelson’s hip is officially in the past, as the Green Bay Packers star receiver passed his physical and avoided entering the list of players injured or incapable at the opening of Green Bay training camps. “Jordy is very consistent,” said Mike McCarthy. “It seems he has not missed a beat.”
It is not a big surprise since Nelson took part in some exercises last month and had told reporters he would be ready for July practices.
-Santonio Holmes is back on the radar of professional football, the Super Bowl XLIII hero auditioned for the Cincinnati Bengals, along with Holmes, David Nelson and Greg Little were submitted to the tests, the last one caught six passes in six games for the Bengals last season, Cincinnati is on the market for the position after putting the selected receptors in the seventh round of the 2014 Draft, as James Wright was put on the disabled list for the rest of the season.
-Things look good for the receiving team with the New York Giants, both Odell Beckham and Victor Cruz avoided joining the list of players to be physically unable to open training camp.
Beckham missed the June practice with a problem in his hamstring, Cruz is coming off surgery from a torn patellar tendon, Cruz looked “stimulated and ready to go,” while Beckham was running “very well” during fitness tests.
