New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady received good news in his legal fight between him and the NFL after the judge handling his case in New York asked the organization for more evidence actually implicating him in the illegally deflated footballs issue during the AFC championship game. Judge Richard Berman required the -defensive stance- NFL side to come up with hard evidence that involves Brady with the illegally deflated footballs.
Berman went to the lawyer for the NFL Daniel Nash, noting that Brady statistics were better in the second half of the game against the Colts in relation to the first two periods, during which deflated footballs were found, “Arguably (Brady) did not gain any advantages of improperly inflated footballs,” Berman argued.
At the request of the judge, Nash acknowledged that there is no direct order from Brady to manipulate in any way the air pressure in the footballs but the fact of having destroyed his cellphone raises suspicion more than anything against the quarterback.
“Is there a message in which Mr. Brady ask someone to put a needle through a football? No, there is no such direct evidence,” said Nash. “(But other evidence) clearly indicates Mr. Brady’s knowledge of and support of this activity.”
Nash reiterated that the destruction of his cell phone (Brady) was clear evidence of foul play or at least give the impression of guilt hence his four-game suspension punishment imposed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Peyton Manning thinks nothing of Tom Brady’s comments regarding his future in the NFL, ensuring that what happened was “no harm, no foul.” In some emails published by the “Deflategate” ordeal, Brady talking to a friend said that Manning only has two years in the NFL, while he (Brady) would still play for at least eight more seasons, Manning played down the incident, saying the email exchanges were pretty harmless and the fact that their emails were revealed, doesn’t make much sense to him.
“Everyone has been speculating about that (possible retirement) for a long time, then I guess he joins the list of those who try to predict it. Tom sent me an apology message that was not necessary,” he concluded.
