Since the advent of those lovely wide screen high-definition TV’s and the overdue opening of really nice sports dedicated bars across the country, it’s just almost not worth it to go to all of the trouble to ‘go out to the ballpark’ these days.
What with parking costing an arm and a leg and concession prices sky high, it might just be more comfortable to snuggle into a comfy booth with two or three big screens in view and let a pretty waitress attend to your food and beverage requirements.
Of course there is really nothing like being out there in person with a good buddy at a big time game. The atmosphere is electric and the general karma uplifting. But it’s getting pretty expensive anymore. Those with good season tickets and a fix on a parking spot can get away with making all of the games. The rest of us will just have to pick and choose.
For example, if you want to catch the Lions & the Bears playing at Soldier Field on Sunday it will cost you a minimum of $173 a seat. Double that if you bring your kid. Considering the fact that neither team will play it’s starting quarterbacks, that price seems a bit high.
Out in San Francisco, amid all the flutter about Twitter, if you want to see Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers take on the 49ers it will cost you $158 a pop.
Now if, on the other hand, you happen to be a fan of the Minnesota Vikings, the Arizona Cardinals or the Tennessee Titans, why, you can still get a good seat for under twenty bucks. Now that’s a sports bargain. You get to see the likes of RGIII, Larry Fitzgerald and Adrian Peterson for less than $20. Now that’s worth it.
