If Eli Manning maintains the level demonstrated against the 49ers, the Giants are a much more dangerous team. Not throwing for more than 400 yards per game, or completing as many passes in a game as possible but becoming a player in whom to trust, whom the team can put their weight; the defense has many problems, but Manning, thanks to a large body of WR and a good running game, can lead a playoffs quality offense.
New York is taking advantage of weaknesses within their division with three straight wins is now the leading the group with a 3-2 record. The Cowboys losing without Romo, Philadelphia without knowing which path should be taken and the Redskins sometimes seem to be rebuilding their team and sometimes seem to have a good team, the Giants gradually have taken lead and doubtfully are letting that advantage slip away, even if Dallas recovers their level, it will be out of the race by the time their stars recover.
Last week against Green Bay’s offense the 49ers were completely unable to move the ball, while his defensive to some extent managed to contain the attack of Aaron Rodgers and company, this Sunday night, seems the roles were completely changed, Colin Kaepernick threw well, Carlos Hyde was close to 100 yards, but the defense was terrible. San Francisco capitalized on a 80-yard drive with 1:45 left, went ahead on the scoreboard and the Giants were still able to win the match.
New York began the game without two of their three regular linebackers, Devon Kennard and Jonathan Casillas in the first series against the 49ers defensive captain and middle linebacker Jon Beason went out with a concussion and although the injuries did not seem to impact much during the first half, in the third quarter San Francisco managed to make several big plays to end the game and the score. These losses are clearly sensitive to the Giants and must find ways to function without those players.
We must remember that the two defeats, against the Cowboys and Atlanta were the fault of New York, they threw both games in the fourth quarter. No doubt this team is becoming a rather dangerous one, the next step is to win games against playoff teams, not the Bills, 49ers and Redskins. With that airstrike the Giants will do a lot of damage.
