Monday Night Football features an NFC East matchup between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles, winners of four straight, host the Redskins in a game that will be decided in the trenches and should be a lot of fun to follow as they feature a pair of young and improving quarterbacks in Washington’s Kirk Cousins and the Eagles Carson Wentz.
This will be a very competitive game between two teams that don’t like each other due to their historic, bitter rivalry as NFC East opponents. This time though, a lot is on the line as both teams have legitimate playoff aspirations.
The Redskins offensive line, one of the best in the NFL, will go head-to-head against the Eagles defensive line, one of the best in the league.
The Redskins offensive line is very creative to open lanes for the team’s running backs using some inside traps and manages to give Cousins great pocket protection, so he can push the ball vertically down the field or find holes to take off running as he scrambles to make something happen with his legs.
The problem for the Redskins is that the Eagles front seven is equally creative and is the best in the league limiting opposing teams on the ground as it allows just 65.7 rushing yards per game.
The Eagles front seven can outrun you around the edge as they are speedy, relentless competitors that are deeply talented and can throw a wave of bodies at your quarterback to swarm him, wear him down until they sack him time and time again.
The Eagles are winning early because they find a way to stop the run and then they focus on stepping outside to rush the quarterback in passing situations, something they hope can use to contain Cousins and his receivers.
The Eagles not only have a defense that can stop the run but an offense that can score a ton of points and are playing at home so expect them to win this one to sweep the Redskins in a game that might be more competitive than their first meeting when the Eagles won in Washington 30-17.
