This new wave of virtual reality driven experiences explains the highlights that took place in the last Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas (CES 2016). There it was announced that both the Oculus Rift VR as the Samsung Gear Live HTC and will go on sale this year, these two are the main manufacturers of this technology but the VR devices in themselves are enough to fill several articles so let’s continue with our DRL.

The CEO of the company, Nick Horbaczewski sees the DRL as a film production and sports league. Where the emphasis is on developing content that will make viewers feel like they’re flying or starring in their own science fiction movie.

But it does not stop at that, the DRL is a product designed and developed for the world of new immersive technologies and the web.

This means that both in America Europe, Asia and the rest of the world fans will see the race in real time and choose which drone to follow, from which camera-not necessarily those of the unit (drone) and at what angle you may choose to experience the Race. Perhaps the biggest drawback is the league that there is a connectivity gap between countries, which could affect the quality of service in these latitudes, something not very impactful for the potential of entertainment

The DRL not only presents itself as a new concept in recreation, but will form part of an emerging business model that has the internet broadcast as a channel at the expense of cable TV and the old forms of audiovisual consumption.

What will not change is the support: to enjoy racing drones will be necessary to have a good Internet connection and a TV with smart-home theater or audio equipment to complete the powerful experience-. At least for those who do not have the possibility of accessing a virtual reality headset it will be necessary to have a laptop or PC with HDMI input and download speed above average, something most households already own.

With a market of global viewers and a series of RV devices only months away from becoming massive, it is expected that the first race of 2016, scheduled for Feb. 22, will gather a home audience of new fans and potential pilots for the new Drone Racing League.
