Tom Brady, quarterback of the New England Patriots, said he is looking forward to start the season, which aims to “focus all my energy and excitement in the challenges of this year,” after a federal judge lifted the sanction of four matches the NFL issued against him.
In a statement, he thanked his family, friends, teammates and fans for the support he received throughout this challenging experience, referring to the decision of Judge Richard Berman to reverse the punishment of four games that the NFL had imposed.
Brady was sanctioned by the National Football League due to his alleged involvement in a scheme to improperly inflate footballs during the AFC championship.
Brady also expressed gratitude to Berman and legal staff for the efforts to resolve this issue in the last five weeks. “I’m very grateful, especially with the legal team that fought beside me and I feel happy to be eligible to play,” he said. He also apologized to the NFL, noting that the experience was difficult because “we all lost, I apologize to anyone who was offended while working to resolve the situation”.
