Colin Kaepernick may have lost Super Bowl XLVII but his is not planning on losing the next one. While most NFL stars are making the talk show circuit or kicking back on some tropical beach for a well earned vacation, Kaepernick is working out like he is getting ready for the combine in Indy.
Instead of maximizing his endorsement potential, Kaepernick seems more concerned with maximizing his arm strength in preparation for football games that are still seven months away. This is the kind of dedication that NFL fans like to see in their young quarterbacks……especially if you are a 49ers fan.
Kaepernick stepped in to replace Alex Smith after he was diagnosed with a concussion earlier this season…..and the rest is NFL history. The 49ers came very close to winning it all last year and it would appear that the competition had better be on notice that they are planning to make waves next year as well.
So, Colin passed on the Tonight Show, passed on Letterman and elected instead to spend his time in a suburban Atlanta gym working out….and working out hard.
Aaron Roberts of “Competitive Edge Sports Performance” told the press, “A few of our veterans are easing into it, but Colin, of course, is here all day, every day”.
Kaepernick is among about a dozen other NFL players who are training right alongside about 50 college players who are preparing for the upcoming NFL Combine in Indianapolis starting on Feb. 21st. He arrives at the gym at 8 am and trains until late in the afternoon. The guy is especially equipped for heavy workouts and features a pool in which the players must swim while being pulled in the opposite direction by a harness. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?
San Francisco receivers Chad Hall and Ricardo Lockette are there with Kaepernick getting ready for next year. Kaepernick took only one week off after the Super Bowl to go to Hollywood and then it was back to the gym.
For the time being, Colin is putting off all of the offers concerning marketing believing that the things coming his way this year will still be there next year.
He agents are concerned at this point with simply protecting him from over exposure and giving him his own space in which to ready himself for what he knows will be a tough year coming up. Expectations are high all around.
