Alabama host Louisiana-Lafayette in week 5 of the college football season featuring a match that is not expected to present much of challenge for the Crimson Tide.
In fact, Alabama is a 49-point favorite against the Ragin’ Cajuns, coached by former Nick Saban assistant Billy Napier. Saban has faced his former assistants 13 times and won all of them but according to Vegas, the odds of Napier breaking that streak are not good.
Alabama will try to use this week’s game to try to establish the run to bolster the confidence in their ground attack, increase their time of possession and eat the clock when the game is out of hand for the Cajuns, however with the way that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is throwing the ball that won’t be easy as the Tide will have a lot of options to attack Louisiana through the air.
In fact, with the way that Tagovailoa is playing right now, along with the weak opposition he faces this week, it’s easy to see him throwing more than 3.5 touchdowns.
Although Napier is rebuilding the Cajuns’ program, Tua will get his work done and probably go to the bench to rest and prevent any injuries once the game is out of reach for Louisiana so expect to see Jalen Hurts on the field somewhere in the fourth quarter or maybe earlier depending on the score.
Despite the big difference in talent don’t be surprised in Alabama fails to cover this week as Nick Saban may take the foot off the pedal once the game is in the bag for the Crimson Tide. Saban may not only try to avoid humiliating his former assistant but also let some of his bench players see some action and improve their confidence.
Expect the Tide to take this game easily and score somewhere in the low fifties while the Cajuns will fail to put double digits on the board.
Prediction: Alabama 53 – 9 Louisiana
