The 2018 MLB All-Star Game takes place tonight at Nationals Field in Washington, DC, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
This will be the fifth MLB All-Star game held in Washington D.C and the first since 1969 when the Washington Senators used to play in the U.S capital. This is the first time that the franchise formerly known as the Montreal Expos is hosting the All-Star game since 1982.
The head-to-head record between the leagues is tied at 43-43-2 and both have scored 361 runs each in All-Star game history.
The American League has won the last five All-Star games and seven of the last 10. The National League won three in a row from 2010 to 2012, but other than that the American league has dominated since the year 2000 as they have gone 14-3-1.
The National League dominated from 1950 to 1987, winning 33 of 42 with 1 tie. From 1963 to 1982 the old circuit won 19 of 20, including 11 in a row from 1972 to 1982.
Led by local heroes Bryce Harper and Max Scherzer the National league will try to shake off the A.L recent supremacy and retake the lead in the all-time record.
