If you bet the prop that Tim Tebow would never play in the NFL again, you lost. If you bet that he would end up in Florida, you lost again.
As far as it is known, no one at all even dared to put up a prop that Tebow would end up with the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick. Probably no one even considered the possibility, except Belichick.
Following the announcement of Tebow’s new employment, the vice president of the big LVH SuperBook in Las Vegas, Jay Kornegay, was asked how this new development would affect the odds on New England to win the Super Bowl. Being in a somewhat humorous mood, Kornegay replied, “As soon as we heard the news, we lowered the Pats from 5-to-1 to 3-to-1.” It was a joke, but then, you never know.
Kornegay went on to say that, for the time being, the hiring of Tim Tebow would not affect the lines up on the Patriots. However, he did add, “The fact that it’s the Patriots – with all their clout and winning ways – that signed him means it’s something to be taken seriously.”
It could be said that Tim Tebow has had a rough time of it for the past year or so. After doing an admirable job for the Broncos, he was unceremoniously traded away to the New York Jets where he was never really utilized. In fact, it seemed at times that he was being down right abused by Rex Ryan and his staff. Why they hired him is the first place remains a mystery.
When the Jets drafted Geno Smith and cut Tebow, it was probably for the best for all concerned. Tebow was out there drifting around for awhile and many were laying odds that he might not ever play in the NFL again. Those who came forward to deride his technical skills as a quarterback have simply not seen enough of him in action.
Spirit is a major issue here. Team spirit. Individual spirit. It is an integral part of the game of football and something that can not be taught. Tim Tebow has the spirit to move an offense down the field when the going gets tough. That’s why Belichick hired him… that’s what he’s going to do for the Patriots.
Just you wait and see! Tim Tebow has signed with one of the best franchises in the NFL… a little faith can go a long way.
