Now that the 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremonies are over let’s take a quick fantasy look at some future candidates for Canton and NFL immortality. There are other guys out there playing today who will probably make the Hall of Fame, but these 10 are almost shoe-ins to get there.
In case there is anyone out there still unfamiliar with how fractional odds work, it’s really not that hard to comprehend. If a player or team is listed at 4-to-1 odds to win, a bettor would take home $4 for every $1 that he or she wagered. On the other hand, if the proposition is listed at 1-to-4 odds, the bettor will have to risk $4 to win $1.
Minnesota Vikings great running back Adrian Peterson is only 28 years old but he is already in the discussion for the Hall of Fame with nearly 9,000 yards rushing over only 6 seasons that’s about 1,400 yards per year! Last year, coming back from a horrific knee injury the year before, Peterson came within 9 yards of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record and he is going for it again in 2013! Adrian Peterson is currently listed as an even money bet to make it to Canton. That price can only go up if Peterson manages to stay healthy.
Quarterback Aaron Rogers has played for the Green Bay Packers since being drafted by them in 1995 and since that time has proven himself to be one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL… year after year. In five seasons as a starter, Rogers has thrown 171 touchdown passes with only 46 picks. He has a Super Bowl Ring, a Super Bowl MVP and league MVP. He has become one of the most valuable players in the NFL. Aaron Rogers is currently listed at 1-to-15 odds to make it to Canton.
Eight time Pro Bowler Charles Woodson was drafted by the Raiders in 1998 after winning the Heisman Trophy out of Michigan. He played in Oakland until 2005 before going up to Green Bay to play with the Packers for 7 years. 2013 finds him back in Oakland to cap off one of the great careers in pro football. Woodson so far has accumulated 55 interceptions as a safety and seems destined for the Hall of Fame even though only 23 defensive backs have made it so far. Charles Woodson’s odds to make it to Canton are listed at 1-to-25.
