If you are tired of all the ho-hum college games with spreads hovering around 20 points, buckle up for next Saturday afternoon because we’ve got some grownup football action in store. The LSU Tigers travel to Athens Georgia to take on the ‘Dawgs’ for one of the banner SEC matchups of the year.
The opening line on the game was giving LSU three and a half points and bettors came down heavily on both sides right away. This is going to be one hell of a football game and the fans, the players and the bettors all know it. Insiders will tell you that most of those points given to the Tigers were because of the home field advantage enjoyed by the Bulldogs this year.
LSU had no trouble handling SEC rival Auburn last week at home and Georgia beat North Texas 45-21…but looked a bit sluggish in doing so. The ‘Dawgs’ are 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS up to this point while LSU is 4-0 SU and 2-2 ATS. It should be noted that, in the two games where LSU did not cover, they were given ridiculously high spreads that were obviously inflated against SEC opponents.
Both quarterbacks have been putting up big numbers and the action is expected to be fast and furious….no to mention loud…right from the opening kickoff.
The University of Mississippi at Oxford, better known as Ole Miss, will travel to Tuscaloosa Alabama to take on Nick Saban and his Crimson Tide on Saturday afternoon is what promises to be one of the great SEC matchups of the year. Ole Miss is undefeated going into the game having beaten Vanderbilt in their season opener and then delivering a sound shellacking to Texas, 44-23. They are coming off of a bye week and should be rested and ready for the Tide.
However, Las Vegas handicappers are showing little love for the Rebels in the opening lines by giving them a whopping 17 points against Alabama. That’s a lot of points in the Southeastern Conference against a 3-0 opponent.
Outside of the SEC we will also see some ‘grownup football’ when #23 Wisconsin, which is 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS, goes down to Columbus to take on Urban Meyers and his #4 ranked Buckeyes, which so far have gone 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS. The opening spread for this game gave the Badgers 7.5 points even without Buckeye starting quarterback Braxton Miller who is questionable to play on Saturday.
