The 2014 UEFA Men’s Champion’s League Final will be played in Lisbon, Portugal at the beautiful Estadio da Luz, the Stadium of Light, in the month of May. The defending champions, Bayern Munich, are already being given the shortest odds to repeat the feat and win it all again this year. Currently Bayern Munich is listed at 5-to-2 to repeat with Real Madrid close behind at 9-to-2.
Munich being posted as favorites again this year comes as a surprise to no one since the team is already undefeated in Bundesliga play this year and boasts the best record in the league with 7-2-0.
Bayern Munich already has racked up three wins in three games including beating Manchester City, never an easy task. The goal differential for Bayern is the highest in the league at 11-1… tied with Paris Saint-Germain. FC Viktoria Plzen went down hard to Bayern 5-0.
Better known as Soccer in the USA, La Liga means ‘football’ in sunny Spain with Real Madrid and Barcelona (4-to-1) being the top two teams there. Madrid boasts the tournament’s leading goal scorer in Cristiano Ronaldo with a total of 7 goals to date. Real Madrid has outscored opponents 12-2 so far and just finished off the Italian team Juventus. However, but Barcelona remains on top in La Liga while Madrid is currently ranked in third place.
Chelsea is the top ranked English club from the Premier League and coming in fourth on the early oddsboard with 12-to-1 odds to win the tourney while the two Manchesters, United and City are each listed at 15-to-1 favorites to take it all home followed by Arsenal which checks in at 20-to-1.
All of these great rivalries will soon be put aside as the FIFA World Cup competition is coming up in Brazil in June and July 2014. Each nation will be making its own selection for the team to represent their nation in the ‘Mundiales’ or World Cup which takes place only every four years. Select teams from 32 countries around the world will participate in the competition which was won by Spain the last time the event took place in 2010.
