The times they are a changing for the NFL and so are the odds on who will be the eventual winner of Super Bowl XLVIII aka the ‘Freezer Bowl’ which will be played outdoors way up north in MetLife Stadium located in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon February 4th probably in the cold and snow.
Now that the pre-season contests are about to get underway, the odds posted by the big sportsbooks out in Las Vegas are starting to shift around leaving some teams that were not receiving a lot of love just a couple of months ago finding themselves right in the middle of the discussion about who will stand a chance to make it to East Rutherford in February.
Take for example the New Orleans Saints who were just a little better than terrible last year without head coach Sean Payton. Well, Payton is back and Rob Ryan has been imported to fix the defense and all of a sudden all we are hearing from the Saints training camp is ‘look out world, here comes Mr. Who ‘Dat!’
The Saints are now listed in a 3 way tie for 7th place in the favorites standings along with the Falcons and the Steelers at 18-1.
The Steelers and the Bengals have also seen a noticeable change in their projected fortunes for the upcoming season but the biggest move, by far, has to go to the Jets who started out a few weeks ago at 100-1 and now find themselves as only 60-1 to win Super Bowl XLVIII.
