NFL Football action is right around the corner. Well, actually it’s still around 3 months away but what the hell. NFL bettors are the most active, the most fanatical and the most consistent sports players out there.
Cantor Gaming of Las Vegas, Nevada has come out with the over and under lines on total number of wins for each NFL team. They may be a bit conservative, but they are out there making wagering on NFL football possible starting May.
The New England Patriots are not listed as the underdogs for even one game they play next year… at this point anyway. Three of their games are listed as picks but that still leaves the Pats with a predicted 12 wins next year. The Denver Broncos, the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks are each picked to win 13 out of sixteen games.
On the other end of the scale, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cleveland Browns are both picked to lose 13 regular season games next year. The Jags win the dubious honor of being the biggest underdogs of the season… two times… first against Seattle in Week 3 and then against Denver in week 6. In both games, Jacksonville will be getting 14 points.
Denver will start only one game as a 1.5 underdog next year… that one with Brady and the Patriots in Week 12. They are favored by an average of 5.6 points in all other contests.
According to Micah Roberts, a former sportsbook director and an analyst for the Linemakers on Sporting News, the release of these odds in May offers bettors some excellent wagering opportunities. “My immediate thoughts were that the Cowboys, Vikings, Steelers and Broncos were rated too high for many of their games, while the Rams, Chiefs and Eagles presented some excellent value.”
Roberts also pointed out that the St. Louis Rams offer good value across the board for 2013. “Any team that can cover all their division games like the Rams did last year, in an extremely tough division, has my attention.”
Obviously, these early lines will be changing as wagering comes in from across the country. Savvy bettors will keep their eyes open for value as it becomes available
Cantor Gaming was quickly joined by Las Vegas giant LVH SportsBook in posting odds for the 2013 NFL season. Players comparing the offerings from these two sources just may find something that they would like to place a wager on!
