A lot of us guys started taking action in the local bar long before there was any such thing as a computer… or even a cell phone for that matter. Times have changed these days and the world of bookmaking has evolved into the 21st century by utilizing modern bookmaking software and state of the art computer programming to bring to you and your players real time wagering and reporting 24/7/365. Both you and your players can now access the entire system via modern SmartPhones.
As many of us are relatively new to computers there is a little tool that I would like to pass along to those of you new to cyberland. One important process I have heard stressed over and over by computer pros is Clean Your Cookies!
If your computer seems that it is moving too slowly, try cleaning your cookies.
Yes, I know how that sounds. Actually, it’s a process that cleans away excess information on your computer that can actually slow you down.
First of all, at the end of your favorites bar, in the upper right hand corner of your screen, you will see the word Tools. Click on Tools and scroll down to the last item which is Internet Options. Click on that and a screen will pop up displaying several boxed options. Near the center you will see a box labeled Delete… Click on it and another pop up box will appear giving you a list of items to check off. The first one is Preserve Favorites website data. Don’t click that one or you will lose your favorites.
All of the other options are things that you really do not need to keep on your computer. Check Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, History, Download History, Form Data, Passwords and ActiveX Filtering and Tracking Protection Data. Go down to the bottom of the box and click on Delete in the box. When it comes up, click on the box that says OK. It may take several seconds for the computer to finish the task. Then you will see a display at the bottom that will inform you that Internet Explorer has finished deleting the selected browsing history. Many times that quick little action will clear up a slow computer and put you on your way again. It also gets rid of any history of your surfing the web that you might not want anyone else to see.
