NYPD is looking to talk to Conor McGregor after he and approximately 20 thugs stormed the loading docks of the Barclays Center in New York this morning and proceeded to attack a bus carrying several fighters that were scheduled to compete at UFC 223, including McGregor’s long-term rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.
A viral video online shows several men running around chasing the bus and throwing trash cans before McGregor himself rushes to a dolly, picks it up and throws it at the window of the bus injuring several people inside.
As a result of the attack, which occurred during UFC 223’s media day, Michael Chiesa suffered cuts to his head and face and had to be taken to a local hospital, while Rose Namajunas, who was almost hit by the broken glass, left the bus and walked back at the hotel. She’s apparently unharmed but was extremely upset by McGregor’s actions.
The fighters, which were taking part in the media day activities were visibly shaken and upset by the sudden attack.
UFC president Dana White called McGregor actions “the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of the company.”
Although White said that there is an arrest warrant out for McGregor, police spokesperson Lt. Tarik Shephard denied it, although he pointed out that one could be issued if the fighter refuses to come in for an interview.
White also announced that McGregor “is going to be sued beyond belief” and called the actions “a real bad career move for him.”
Although the causes of the attack are not totally clear yet, McGregor was apparently very angry because Nurmagomedov and his team cornered his close friend and training partner Artem Lobov at the hotel earlier in the week.
White said that Lobov was also involved in the Barclays Center incident and as a result, his featherweight fight against Alex Caceres on Saturday has been canceled.
Chiesa, on the other hand, has already left the hospital and will still fight Anthony Pettis at UFC 223 on Saturday.
