Proposition Bets

Proposition bets, also known as prop bet, side bet, prop or exotic are those that denote that an event  might happen or not during a game, however that event will not affect the game’s final outcome. Some examples of prop bets include:

  • Betting on which team scores first or last in a match.

  • The duration of an specific word during the pregame performance.

Straight Bets

These are the type of bets that are made in opposition to the spread. Straight Bets are the most widespread type of wager on sports. For those of you who don’t know what the spread is, here’s a quick explanation. The spread is the number assigned by the bookies which handicaps one team and favors the other. Here’s a case in point of a straight bet:

  • Team A is more likely to win against team B.
  • Team A is assigned -3 while Team B is assigned +3.
  • To determine the winner, the line is either added or subtracted from a team’s final score.
  • On the above example, if the bettor chose Team A, he would have to take away 3 points from Team A’s final score and compare that number to Team B’s.
  • In order to win, Team A’s score should be at least 4 points higher than Team B’s.

Teasers

Also known as two-team teaser, this variety of gambling bet permit bettors to merge bets on two different games. In order to do so, bettors are allowed to adjust point spreads however the return of the bets might be a little bit lower in case of a win. Teasers are commonly used on sports, particularly on basketball and football. The minimum of teams allowed in order for a bet to be considered a teaser is 2, however it can be as high as 15 teams at once. Among teasers, there are two main types the Vegas Teaser and the Super Teaser or Monster teaser.
