The Vikings were a team that surprised in 2015, few expected them to fight for a playoff spot, much less win the NFC North title against Green Bay. With much help from Adrian Peterson, a semi Alex Smith on Teddy Bridgewater and a defense that needs to improve, rebuild times in Minnesota are left behind, now all there is left is to mature on and off the field.
The good thing about the 2015 season for the Minnesota Vikings
Adrian Peterson had an impressive season, more than 1,400 yards and 11 touchdowns, add the Vikings offense, at various points within each game became monotonous, simple and redundant, Peterson always brought it, as being more than the spark plug for the team. Bridgewater found someone to trust in Steffon Diggs, but on offseason this confidence needs to translate into a less conservative air attack. The defense, especially their defensive ends (Brian Johnson, Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter) were a well oiled machine, with 21.5 only them, best of all, it’s a young group and still has a lot to give.
The downside of the 2015 season for the Minnesota Vikings
Fear and lack of maturity to release longer passes were important excuse for the Vikings offense which stagnated at times throughout the year, Bridgewater is a quarterback with the full package, he knows how to protect the ball and has a good arm, he needs greater confidence in his abilities and the people around the pocket. Believe it or not, the defense also had some problems, particularly in the secondary, which did not do a bad job, but the shallowness of players made them take much damage against teams with a powerful passing game.
Vikings season ended when…
We can not blame Blair Walsh, he led a special team that helped win many games in regular season, the problem of Minnesota was their offense, not only against Seattle, with a one-dimensional offense, which requires that Teddy Bridgewater matures and dares to throw much more dynamically.
2016 Vikings?
With another year of growth for Teddy, Minnesota will be favorite to win the division once again, it would be very important to remove some weight to Peterson, but it is a team that has a great future.
