Finally will boxing get a fight that could reignite the sport!
After being absolutely robbed in their 1st fight Manny Pacquaio wins the rematch with Bradley by unanimous decision to regain the WBO welterweight championship! The loss was Bradley’s first official in 33 professional fights.
The fighters were toe to toe most all of the fight and the fans absolutely loved it. Bradley was under the impression he couldn’t win the fight if it came down to a decision because of the gift he received the last fight. So he turned this one into brawl like something out of rocky movie and went solely for the knockout, many times swinging wildly and off balance. When the fight was over Bradley was gracious in defeat saying that “Manny still has it”. But does he?
So how does this fight effect boxings future? Does the Pacquaio victory now set the stage for the fight that everyone has been waiting for Mayweather vs Pacquaio?
Most people think that Mayweather has simply been ducking Pacquaio for years in fear of losing. As Floyd basically had too much to lose! Now years later and Pacquaio’s skills are not what they once were and there is not douibt that he has lost that killer instinct. At the top of his game there is no doubt that Pacquaio would have given Mayweather all that he could handle.
Fast forward to the present Mayweather is still undefeated and fast as lightning and Pacquaio has indeed lost more than a step. Bookies will have Mayweather as the favorite in the fight as he is still undefeated. The two fighters certainly aren’t getting younger as Pacquaio is 35, Mayweather is 37 chances are the window of opportunity for this fight are closing fast if it doesn’t happen in 2014 chances are that it will never happen!
If it does happen it will still be the most anticipated fight in decades although it has lost a bit of its luster you can bet on a big draw and a huge payday for both fighters. At the end of the day Pacquaio say he is ready to fight anytime but until Maywether signs on the dotted line we will only be able to speculate.
